Chronic pain is a debilitating condition that affects people of all ages and backgrounds around the world. In the United States alone, chronic pain was reported to affect 20.4% of adults in the United States as of 2019. For those with more severe chronic pain, 7.4% of adults suffered in a way that inhibited their day-to-day life. It’s our goal at Hempzilla to educate our customers and share the latest research and CBD news with you so you can make informed decisions as a consumer.

Is CBD as a treatment for chronic pain?

Before we discuss the clinical study on CBD as a treatment for chronic pain, let’s talk about opioid use for chronic pain. with In order to help with the treatment and management of chronic pain, many patients are prescribed opioids. Opioids are a class of drugs that bind to opioid receptors in the brain and central nervous system. When interacting with these receptors, opioids have the potential to create feelings of pleasure or excitement, and aid in pain relief. While there are potential benefits to opioids (such as analgesia, aka pain relief), they can also have major adverse effects such as respiratory depression, sedation, tolerance, physical dependence, addiction, and overdose. As a result, there has been an increase in efforts to find potential alternatives.

In recent years, the use of cannabidiol (CBD) for treating chronic pain has become one popular alternative. CBD is an active ingredient from in cannabis plants but unlike traditional marijuana, it contains no traces of THC and is not psychoactive in nature. The study highlighted in this post aims to show how CBD can be used as a safer, more effective alternative to opioids and ultimately improve the quality of life in patients suffering from bouts of chronic pain. CBD is a potentially useful alternative because it does not have the risks that opiods have such as respiratory depression, sedation, physical dependence, addiction, and overdoseing. There are a lot of people that could be helped by CBD use on a regular basis. Let’s learn more about the clinical study lead by Alex Capano

The study, which took place over the course of eight weeks, involved 97 patients (ages 30 to 65) who had been using opioids to treat chronic pain for at least one year. The effectiveness of CBD was measured by seeing how it impacted opioid use and the following four areas: Pain Disability Index (PDI-4); Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Pain Intensity and Interference (PEG); and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-4).

Notable Results from the CBD Clinical Study:

Conclusion of the CBD study for chronic pain use

CBD could significantly reduce opioid use and improve chronic pain and sleep quality among patients who are currently using opioids for pain management.*

Many believe cannabidiol (CBD) hemp extract has the potential to assist those with chronic pain

Whether that means breaking away from opioid use or improving their ability to complete everyday tasks. CBD hemp products are also legal in all 50 states as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC, making them a more accessible solution. This study shows that CBD can serve a potentially successful alternative for managing chronic pain due to its ability to reduce or eliminate opioid use in chronic pain patients. CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural supplement extracted from the cannabis plant that helps you unwind. While there is little research to prove CBD products for wellness offer any benefits, the interaction of CBD with the human endocannabinoid system has be associated with helping to reduce inflammation, support happier mornings, and soothe sore joints and muscle. CBD is also a popular alternative to other ailment solutions because most products contain no traces of THC, thus eliminating psychoactive properties and the feeling of being “high.”

CBD products for wellness can be taken orally or applied topically, and is available in a variety of forms, such as tinctures, pre-rolls, gummies, and bath soaks. To help you make an informed decision on which CBD products for wellness align best with your lifestyle, we’ve reviewed a few CBD products that will help boost your daily routine and leave you feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the world!

1.) CBD Bath Soaks

Why CBD Bath Soaks hempzilla

Long day? We feel that. Our most trusted solution? A long bath infused with CBD Bath Soaks!

Baths are an easy way to incorporate wellness into your daily routine. They can help improve circulation and skin health while providing sensory stimulation, especially after a stressful work week. When it comes to the CBD Bath Soak, the warm water actually opens the pores to allow more CBD to be absorbed into the skin. On top of this, many CBD Bath Soaks are infused with essential oils, including eucalyptus, orange, and , which carry their own benefits for a well-rounded, relaxing CBD bath experience.

2.) CBD Honey Sticks

cbd honey sticks

A healthy diet can help to keep your skin looking its best by fending off free radicals and providing essential nutrients for maintaining a youthful appearance. One of our favorite ways to do this is by brewing a cup of tea and adding in 1-2 CBD honey sticks! For some inspiration, here’s a tea recipe we’ve been loving lately:

This easy recipe will help jumpstart your day with some natural energy! Before taking a sip, try adding a bit of creamer or milk into your tea to help boost the effectiveness of the honey sticks. This is because fat-based foods like butter, creamers and milk are quickly processed by our bodies, so when we ingest such fat-based foods with CBD products for wellness, it helps absorb them more effectively!

You can also substitute the type of tea you are using for chamomile or sleepy-time to help you relax and unwind in the evening!

3.) CBD Tinctures

While many will take CBD tinctures straight from the dropper, they are also great for mixing in with your favorite water-based foods or drinks!

Whether it’s soups, pasta sauces, or salad dressings, we recommend using an unflavored tincture to avoiding altering the taste of the meal. You can also add CBD tinctures (unflavored or flavored!) to coffee and smoothies for an energizing morning boost or post-workout refuel. The great thing about using CBD products for wellness like tinctures is that they are effective, but don’t produce the downsides of caffeine, such as jitters or anxiety.

If you prefer getting your CBD tincture straight from the bottle, Hempzilla has a variety of potent options to choose from! Formulated exclusively with health and well-being in mind, our powerful CBD + CBG Wellness Tincture is infused with antioxidant-packed ginger and has a light and refreshing ginger-lemon flavor that is perfect for anytime of the day!

For all the ladies in the place…Hempzilla’s Citrus Vanilla CBD Flow Tincture is the perfect “that time of the month” pick-me-up! Made with evening primrose oil, which may help with PMS symptoms like bloating and cramps**, and  Lavender, Ginger, Lemon Balm, and Clary Sage essential oils, this formula is the ultimate PMS support tincture.

4.) CBD Topicals

hempzilla Joint and Muscle CBD line

We often forget that our bodies are not just made of bones, muscles, and organs. Our skin is the largest organ on our body which makes up over 15% of our total weight. Adding topical CBD products for wellness is a great, all-natural way to maintain your healthy glow!

CBD products for wellness have a lot of potential benefits when it comes to working on your skin from the inside-out. In addition to protecting against natural environmental damage and inflammation with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, CBD can also promote healthy cells by encouraging cell turnover while preventing collagen breakdown as well as excessive oil production.

When figuring out which CBD product for wellness is best suited for your skin, it’s important to evaluate your daily lifestyle and routine. If you’re someone who lives in the sun all year or loves spending time on the slopes in the winter months, try a CBD hand and body lotion! Perfect for any climate, a CBD lotion can be just what you need to soothe sun damaged skin or beat dry, cracked skin that has weathered colder elements. Chances are, it probably smells pretty amazing too!

CBD has also made a name for itself in the facial skincare realm. If you’re always on the go, battling with sensitive skin, or simply need a daily skincare regimen revamp, CBD-infused skincare products might be right for you! As previously mentioned, some research has been done in relation to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce sebum production — the waxy, oily substance that, when overproduced, can trigger acne.

For those who love inked skin and keeping the appearance of tattoos bright and moisturized, check out Hempzilla’s CBD Fresh Ink Tattoo Cream. Along with the natural benefit of moisturizing fresh or aging tattoos, the cream is anti-inflammatory and anti-itch to help minimize any irritation caused by tattoos.

Sports injuries are common, especially in football. As athletes age and continually go through the wear and tear of the game, their bodies become more susceptible to injury and experience longer recovery times. Most of the time, sports-related injuries are typically treated with traditional opioid painkillers that are addictive in nature. Recognizing the risks that can stem from opioid use, the NFL has decided to look into alternative methods for treating pain. One possible solution they’re considering is CBD for athletes, which is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties that can aid in recovery and pain relief after strenuous activity.

CBD for Athletes: NFL Considers CBD for Injury Relief

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, athletes and sports competitors suffer more than 2,000 injuries per 10,000 workers. When an athlete pushes their body to its limits, they exert a greater amount of stress, which causes the endocannabinoid system to go into overdrive. The endocannabinoid system is a network of neurons and synapses throughout the human body and brain that is thought to modulate inflammation and other immune responses. Therefore, when the body undergoes excessive pressure, it is likely the system will respond with inflammation.

So, where does CBD  for athletes come in? CBD is the non-psychoactive component of cannabis that contains cannabinoids. The endocannabinoid system also emits and responds well to cannabinoids on its own. By introducing CBD to the body, it acts as an endocannabinoid system regulator that binds with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the system. CB1 receptors are located in all tissues, the spinal cord, and the brain, and mainly impact the nervous system. CB2 receptors are mainly found in the immune system tissues and support anti-inflammation. Each receptor responds differently to CBD and produces different effects within the body, but ultimately our bodies respond well to the extra cannabinoids in CBD because our bodies already love them!

As CBD has exploded in popularity, more athletes have been implementing it into their daily routines.

Currently, CBD for athletes is allowed in the following leagues*:

CBD for Athletes: NFL Considers CBD for Injury Relief

CBD For Athletes and NFL Pain Management Committee

When it comes to the NFL, the NFL-NFLPA Pain Management Committee (PMC) came out with a request for industry research on opioid alternatives in February 2021. The purpose of the committee is to “establish uniform standards for club practices and policies regarding pain management and the use of prescription medications by NFL players.”Looking to expand their knowledge on pain management and athletic performance in NFL players, the committee’s request seeks out qualified researchers who can help them with this goal by conducting studies that may explore:

  1. Other medications and non-pharmacological options that are considered alternatives to opioids in routine pain management of NFL players.
  2. How cannabis or cannabinoids would affect athletic performance in NFL players.
  3. Other medications and non-pharmacological options that are considered supplements in routine post-surgical orthopedic pain management in NFL football players.

This request also comes after the NFL issued a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) in early 2020. The new CBA included various amendments and a new drug policy, which would prevent players from being suspended due to cannabis or cannabinoid use. The change includes a shorter testing period (two weeks at the start of training camp instead of four weeks), an increased threshold for the amount of THC (from 35 nanograms to 150 nanograms), and a new review system for any rule violations (with a greater focus on supporting the well-being of NFL athletes). To highlight the new method of review, this means that if an NFL player tests positive for drugs during the two-week stretch of training camp, their test is reviewed by a board of medical professionals. Once the player’s use of a substance is evaluated, the neutral party decides if a player is okay to return or if treatment is needed for this player to overcome such issues.

CBD and the NFL’s Focus on Mental Health

Ultimately, this new method shows how the NFL is working to focus more on their players’ mental health by meeting those who might need help with substance abuse with support instead of punishment. All of these changes are big developments in the world of sports, as it means players can continue using cannabis and CBD for athletes without the fear of suspension.

Beyond its potential as a pain relief alternative, CBD for athletes is also great because of:

CBD for Athletes: NFL Considers CBD for Injury Relief

Every time a player takes to the field, they assume the risks associated with the game. In 2010, for example, there were 154 reported concussions in the National Football League’s (NFL) first half of the season and pre-season alone. But athletes deserve to be on top of their game. If the NFL and other sports leagues were to introduce CBD for athletes as an alternative to regular painkiller treatments, their players are more likely to maintain a safe, healthy balance in their body and find relief from the results of a high-pressure environment.

*This list is not comprehensive. Each league also upholds its own specific regulations regarding the use of CBD. Not all regulations are listed and regulations are subject to change.

It is common for people to have questions around CBD and for good reason! As we’ve been introduced to this product in the mainstream space only recently, there’s a lot of education still to be done to fully understand the benefits and applications of this product. People often wonder if it can help with certain conditions like anxiety or depression, which is why new research has become increasingly important. But don’t worry- despite some misinformation out there, CBD oil is not addictive, won’t show up on a drug test as THC does (since it doesn’t contain any), and isn’t just something you rub on your skin before going out at night. It’s actually made from hemp plants containing high concentrations of cannabidiol; a safe compound that works by interacting with our endocannabinoid system because they’re so similar.

If you’re looking to make CBD a part of your routine but still have questions, keep reading to debunk some of the most common questions we get asked at Hempzilla CBD.

Is CBD Essentially Pot?

Debunking Common CBD Questions

The reason why there’s a lot of confusion about the difference between CBD and marijuana is because both are derived from plants in the cannabis family. In fact, they’re both parts of the same genus called Cannabis sativa. However, this is where their similarities end as they have very different effects on your body. The most obvious difference between CBD oil and marijuana is that weed contains THC (the chemical compound that gets you high) while hemp oil does not contain THC.

What most don’t realize is that there are over 100 distinct chemical compounds found only in the Cannabis Sativa L plant. Some of these chemicals have been identified to have positive effects on mental and physical health conditions such as stress and anxiety, insomnia, diabetes, arthritis pain management or even cancer treatments. These specific chemicals are called cannabinoids which can be extracted from the plants for use in formulating CBD products such as oils, topicals, and tinctures.

What is the difference between Sativa and Indica strains?

Debunking Common CBD Questions

Sativa and Indica are two of the most commonly known cannabis strains. We are often asked what is the difference between these two strains! The only difference between them is their chemical composition which affects how we perceive their effects, as each has its own unique characteristics.

Sativa is a species of cannabis that has been found to increase energy levels, focus and mood. These effects are often sought after by people who enjoy using CBD in social situations. On the other hand, Indica can be relaxing. Indica strains are known for their body high and ability to induce relaxation and even sleepiness. One is not innately better than the other—it all depends on what vibe you’re going for! The thing about CBD is that it can make people feel different ways sometimes; this makes it hard to predict if the strain will work well for you until you try it.

Although our Hempzilla line is not strain-specific but rather uses a blend of the strains, we do have strain-specific vape pens, as well as a whole array of strain-specific products in our Connoisseur Select line.

“Lifter” is a great place to start to try a Sativa product, and “Suver Haze” is a phenomenal indica!

Should I purchase Isolate, Broad-Spectrum, or Full-Spectrum CBD?

CBD is a fast-growing industry, and one that is saturated with misinformation and confusion. Many people are not aware of the difference between broad-spectrum CBD, full-spectrum CBD or isolates. Even some supposed “experts” in the space don’t know the differences. It’s helpful to understand how each type of product works within your system before you buy.

Full-spectrum CBD contains a trace amount of THC, terpenes, and hundreds of other phytochemicals found in the cannabis plant. It is left in its most natural form and offers some healing benefits thanks to this compound. Isolate is when the CBD alone is extracted without terpenes, stripping the oil of many beneficial phytochemicals and compounds. Broad-spectrum is somewhere in between, removing THC as much as possible while also preserving the rest of the plant for additional therapeutic purposes.

While we recommend buying Full-Spectrum or Broad-Spectrum products from a reputable source such as Hempzilla, we DO NOT recommend purchasing a CBD isolate product. Many companies choose to use isolates because it’s cheaper to produce and has no scent or taste due to its entire lack of terpenes, making it easier to combine into flavored vapes and products. Cutting corners this way though reduces, if not altogether eliminates, the effect that you will experience from CBD.

What are Terpenes?

Debunking Common CBD Questions

Cannabis plants produce terpenes that have distinct aromas and flavors. Terpenes are essential oils found in plants, with around 200 of them existing in cannabis alone. They affect the plant’s aroma and flavor, while also providing a range of different physiological or medicinal effects when consumed. When combined with cannabinoids such as CBD, terpenes can lead to an entourage effect (a synergistic relationship) that produces improved health outcomes for patients.

In ancient cultures, the benefits of terpenes were acknowledged and valued. The Egyptians used them for ceremonial purposes, by burning their resins in incense to release aromatherapy that was believed to have healing properties. In recent times, we’re now beginning to understand how they work so well with cannabinoids like CBD. Every terpene has a different aroma, flavor, and effect. The most common are limonene, pinene, linalool, myrcene, beta-caryophyllene or caryophyllenol. Each terpene profile can have a different effect, similar to that of strain characteristics.

One of the most important things that you can do as a consumer is keep asking questions and seeking answers. If you have the right information that is coming from multiple credible sources and always look to purchase your CBD products from sources with a proven reputation, CBD can revolutionize your life! The CBD market is booming: it’s projected to be worth over $5.3 billion by 2025. You’ve likely already seen the wide array of cannabidiol products available, from CBD tinctures to colorful candies.

When looking into CBD products, finding the best tincture can be a lengthy task as there is a lot of CBD tincture for sale. There are so many different manufacturers; how do you know you’re getting a great product?

In this article, we’ll break down everything you need to know about CBD tinctures. You’ll learn why CBD works so well, and every step of the tincture-making process. Keep reading to find out more.

CBD: an Overview

cbd tinctures hemp plant

Before we dive into the intricacies of tinctures, let’s talk a bit about CBD. CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a cannabinoid found in (you guessed it) cannabis plants. Cannabinoids are the compounds and chemicals that can be extracted from cannabis, many of which have benefits for the mind and body.

THC is another well-known cannabinoid. It’s the compound in marijuana that gets you high. CBD, though, is non-psychoactive: you’ll feel relaxed but still clear-headed. It’s a cannabis product that won’t get you stoned!

Regular use of cannabidiol has been linked to reduced stress, easing of chronic pain, and improved mood. But how does CBD make this happen? ?

How CBD Can Help You

Before we can fully explain how CBD works, let’s talk about the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is present in every mammal and plays a role in regulating most bodily functions. The hub of the ECS is in your brain, but there are cannabinoid receptors- referred to as CB1s and CB2s – in the membranes of most cells in your body!

The ECS processes cannabinoids that your body already makes. When you add some CBD (or other cannabinoids) into the mix, they bind with CB receptors and kick your ECS into “high gear”. This helps regulate your body and functional systems, encouraging normal function.

The ECS plays a part in regulating sleep, mood, pain tolerance, and more. Incorporating CBD can ensure you’re functioning at the highest level!

How To Use CBD Tincture

cbd tinctures oil

You can use CBD in two ways: by ingesting it or using it topically. Neither way is necessarily better than the other. Ingesting CBD allows it to cross the blood-brain barrier more quickly; using CBD topically provides localized results.

Topical use of CBD is great for sore muscles and other aches. When CBD is used on the skin, it binds immediately with the CB receptors in your nervous system. This allows your body to send more attention to the affected area.

Ingesting CBD is best if you’re looking for its mood-boosting benefits. There are multiple forms of CBD that can be used both internally and topically.

Why CBD Tinctures Work So Well

When looking to use CBD topically, you can certainly slather your body with pure CBD oil. But this won’t provide the same kind of result as a tincture. If oils and salves aren’t right for you, you may enjoy a CBD tincture.

If applied topically, CBD tinctures are CBD suspended in an alcohol-based liquid. This means that the CBD soaks into your skin fast and evaporates quickly. No emollient residue left behind.

CBD tinctures also last longer as the alcohol acts as a preservative. The flavor will be less Earthy than some other CBD oils, and may even have a flavor added to it. Overall, CBD tinctures are a pleasant way to take in your cannabidiol.

Tinctures are processed with a specific purpose in mind and often contain other terpenes and vitamins. You can find CBD tinctures for inflammation, weight loss, and more.

How CBD Tinctures are Made

cbd tinctures extraction

Now on to the good stuff: how CBD tinctures are actually made. The process is a little different than making other CBD products, as working with alcohol bases can be a little tricky.

Here, we’ll break down our own process for making CBD tinctures. You may be surprised at the care that goes into each batch.

1. CBD Extraction

CBD is first extracted from cannabis through a CO2 extraction. This separates the CBD from other substances, terpenes, and plant matter.

There are other methods of extraction, but CO2 Extraction is the cleanest and most efficient. This extraction process distills CBD into its cleanest form. CO2 Extraction is used by all the top manufacturers today and guarantees no isolates are used.

2. Blending with Carrier

Once the CBD has been produced, it is mixed with either an alcohol-based liquid or a glycerin substance. Both of these compounds are great for CBD, as the cannabinoid and liquid will emulsify together.

Blending CBD with a carrier allows for better-measured dosage. This is also the stage where any flavors, terpenes, or other compounds are added.

3. Packaging Safely

Once the tincture is perfected, it’s packaged and ready to go! It may be poured into a vial or spray bottle. The tincture can even be blended with drinks!

Keep your tincture in its original packaging. This way, you’ll have the dosage and ingredients list handy for every use.

Getting the Most Out of Your CBD

Unfortunately, when stored improperly, CBD can degrade and lose potency. To make sure that you’re taking proper care of your cannabidiol, follow these guidelines:

hemp pods zillapods

Hemp pods are vaporizer cartridges that you can vape via a vaping device. They contain hemp extract and terpenes, which have numerous benefits. Some people are beginning to see the benefit of hemp and CBD.

So, how can you vape with hemp pods? What are the effects of vaping a hemp pod? Below you will find all sorts of information about vaping hemp pods.

What are you waiting for? You’re missing out by not using them!

The Logistics of Vaping

hemp pods cbd vape

Chances are, you may already be vaping! It’s become incredibly popular.  A vaping device resembles a USB drive in shape and form.

With the vaping device, you insert cartridges, like a CBD cartridge, into the device so that you can smoke it. The CBD cartridge does not have any actual plant in it. Rather, it is full of a liquid that has terpenes,  and CBD oil extracted from the hemp plant.

Most of these cartridges are meant to be used one time only, so you do not need to worry about replacing the vape juice inside.

How to Vape with Hemp Pods

hemp pods man

Using a CBD pod is simple and like any other JUUL pod. Here is a step-by-step way to put your CBD cartridge into your JUUL or similar device.

Connect the Pod

First, you need to connect your pod to the battery. This should indicate that your JUUL or Ki is ready to use, so you can then take a short puff to see how it is working.

If nothing comes out, you did not connect it right. Try again! Otherwise, the pod may be empty.

Start Small

Because this is a pod full of hemp oil and CBD, make sure you wait a little bit in between puffs to see if you are already having enough CBD or beginning to feel calmer.

It is important to get your dosage right. Starting with small and infrequent puffs is a good way to keep yourself and your tolerance in check. As you grow more used to smoking CBD pods, you can always increase your dosage.

Check the Battery Life

If your battery is losing power, there is one thing you can do to check.

Try tapping the JUUL two times. Then, it should indicate its battery status to you.

The Right Dosage with CBD Pods

Getting the right dosage of CBD with CBD pods is sometimes a trial and error endeavor. You not only need to know how much to smoke but also how many pods you may need to buy to meet your regular usage. This CBD FAQ may help answer some of your burning questions about CBD usage and using CBD in a JUUL or JUUL-like device.

When you consider the right dosage of CBD for yourself, starting slow is best. Remember, CBD has the greatest benefit over time with prolonged use. How much pain you may be in or how much anxiety you have coud also help determine how much CBD you may want to use. If you are using CBD to help relieve those problems, a higher MG strength may be right for you.

What Does CBD Feel Like?

CBD is not THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, so CBD will not get you high. It may give you the ability to reduce your anxiety or to relieve any physical ailments you may have. This lack of psychoactive feeling is why so many people have begun experimenting with using CBD.

You may feel your body relax when you smoke CBD pods. Think vibes of being at peace, and some studies show it may even help you sleep better.

The more you smoke your CBD pod, the more effects you will feel.

In essence, CBD gummies are regular gummies infused with CBD. Thus, they retain the medicinal properties of the compound.

In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about CBD gummies, and most importantly how they come to be. So that you can determine if they are the right kind of product for you.

Whenever you’re ready to take your health to the next level and try out something that has many well-coveted research trials underway, keep reading.

What Are CBD Gummies?

cbd gummies colors

In essence, CBD gummies are edible products infused with concentrated CBD oil. They are not fast-acting, but they have a longer-lasting effect polarity.

CBD gummies come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as different flavors. You can get them in a form of Sour Rings, Gummy Bears, Sour Worms, etc.

When you eat a gummy, your body will digest the compound, causing a direct response with your cannabinoid receptors. Thus, activating your endocannabinoid system. This creates a feeling of relaxation and ease, which is often associated with depreciation in anxiety, stress, and depression.

The Difference Between CBD vs THC vs Cannabis vs Hemp

cbd tinctures hemp plant cbd gummies

There’s a lot of confusion with what CBD exactly is, with many people thinking that marijuana, cannabis, hemp, THC, and CBD are all the same thing. But they are not, and we need to make that clear.

For the Cannabis plant, there are two categorized types. The first is Cannabis Sativa, and the second is Cannabis Indica. Even though marijuana can be derivative of both, hemp only derives from Cannabis Sativa.

This means that even though marijuana and hemp share a common parent, they are notably different. The most crucial difference being the fact that hemp is practically THC-free, so you don’t get “high”. In fact, due to the Farm Bill, the hemp must have no more than 0.3% THC.

Otherwise, growers can be prosecuted under federal law and experience serious repercussions. In hemp, the main ingredient is CBD, it does not have properties of a psychoactive nature.

CBD has been subject to association with relieving inflammation, pain, insomnia, and anxiety. Although, there is very little research on these qualities, except for epilepsy. In fact, there is a prescription CBD oil that is FDA-approved, and it’s called Epidiolex.

Many other trials are being done that investigate the effects of CBD for schizophrenia, diabetes, anxiety, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and much more.

In addition to the medicinal application of CBD, hemp is a biodegradable product that is used in clothing, paper, building materials, and biofuel.

So How Are CBD Gummies Made?

The creation of CBD gummies begins with the extraction of CBD from the plant. Most of the products are created with CBD isolate, but others are made with full-spectrum oil that contains many other useful compounds.

The only variability between regular gummies and CBD gummies is that CBD is infused with gelatin. This infusion provisions the medicinal properties of the product.

Manufacturers that make CBD gummies use specific equipment to do so, but DIY solutions are also available.

CBD is a naturally-occurring compound in hemp plants, and although some products use CBD from marijuana plants, the majority of brands will use hemp extracts to make them available on the legal market.

To extract cannabidiol from the plant, as well as separate the other plant matter makes use of an intricate extraction process. This can be done with a liquid solvent or food-grade oil, but the most efficient method uses CO2. It’s also the most complicated and expensive process.

CO2 extraction allows for the pressure and temperature to be adjusted appropriately, which helps in isolating specific cannabinoids in the plant. This method is done with a closed-loop extractor, which consists of three chambers.

One for dry ice (pressurized CO2, the other for plant matter, the third holds the separated finished product.

The CO2 is pushed into the chamber that holds the plant matter, in which it takes on a supercritical form, which is essentially a middle ground between gas and liquid. This runs through the plant and extracts the cannabinoids.

Then the supercritical mass is pushed into the third chamber where the CO2 rises, and the oils seep to the bottom of the container. After that’s done, the gummy gelatin infused with the oil and is then shaped throughout processing.

Are CBD Gummies Healthy?

CBD gummy manufacturers claim that it’s effective for pain relief, anxiety, and depression depletion, and sleep improvement. As mentioned earlier, research into CBD oil effectiveness only persists in pure oil, not the gummy form.

Even for pure oil, there is a limited amount of well-conducted trials backing the benefits. Be wary that CBD by itself is quite bitter and many gummies make use of grande amounts of sugar to disguise this bitterness.

If you’re on a diet that avoids sugar or are not sugar-tolerant, you should look for gummies that fit your own needs.

Can You Get High From CBD Gummies?

CBD gummies should not have any psychoactive characteristics. They will not get you high. CBD is a derivative from hemp, which is ‘devoid” of THC. By law, the hemp must have no more than 0.3% of THC.

In fact, this quantity is essential for full-spectrum oils, which are most beneficial to the body. THC when present in CBD oil ensures an “entourage” effect, which widens the benefit profile of the material.

Stress and anxiety doesn’t help your sleep

Besides biological and genetic factors, last year was hard on everyone. Loss of loved ones, unemployment, shortages of goods and services — it all took a toll on our stress levels.

Many of the things we used to do to relieve stress were also unavailable because of the pandemic. Drinks with friends? Bars are closed. How about a nice massage? Spas are closed. Shopping? Think again. Even when businesses are open, many people are afraid to be around other people. All this resulted in more trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. According to a recent article from AJMC, there was a 14.8% increase in sleep medication prescriptions in the United States from February 2020- March 2020 during the pandemic.

That evidence suggests an increase in people struggling with sleep issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While sleep aids can be dangerous and addictive, many people turn to them because they don’t realize there are other options available. If you’re looking for a better night’s sleep that, but don’t have access to prescription drugs and don’t want to turn to sleep meds, CBD and CBN could offer a solution.

Is CBD a natural alternative for sleep?

A study published in 2019 by Dr. Scott Shannon from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado, and his team, reported that 79.2% of adults presenting primary concerns of anxiety saw decreased anxiety within the first month. Of those who participated and struggle with poor sleep, 66.7% of patients saw improved sleep scores.

Why try a CBD CBN Nighttime Tincture?

While CBD has many different benefits, CBN is widely known for being associated with sleep. Trying out a tincture with both CBD and CBN takes advantage of two naturally occurring cannabinoids. In fact, Dr. Jaclyn Tolentino, DOa Parsley Health Los Angeles physician explained in a 2019 interview that CBN is believed to specifically bind with our CB2 receptors, which are expressed throughout the body, as opposed to CB1 receptors, which are just in your brain. That binding, Tolentino explained, is reported to produce a pain-relieving effect, which “may account for its reported benefit as a sleep aid.”
